Is the Laptop computer needed to run the process?
The laptop is used to program the system, but is not necessary to actually run the process. Synthesis programs are downloaded to the programmable logic controller (PLC), and the PLC runs the process sequence and collects data. The graphical user interface runs on the laptop, allowing the operator to view the process, which is often helpful but not strictly necessary. The laptop can be disconnected from the process during operation and used for programming or to run other synthesis operations.
