The continuously increasing numbers of cyclotrons as well as the developments in the generator field over the last decade show the increasing interest and importance of radiopharmaceuticals in the medical domain, especially in the diagnosis and therapy of cancer. The short half-life of most of these used radioisotopes together with the discovery of new labeling agents, like peptides and antibodies, makes it essential that the complete production process has to be automated, starting from the irradiation, over the synthesis process down to the final dispensing. Keeping that in mind Eckert & Ziegler Eurotope GmbH developed a fully automated synthesis device – the Modular-Lab – for the production of radiopharmaceuticals.
